Cypress Hills Advocates for Education,
NYC Coalition for Educational Justice
Brooklyn, NY
I recruit, train and support parents to become activists to fight for more resources for public schools in Brooklyn and in New York City. I work primarily with women, as mothers and grandmothers, who are immigrants or daughters of immigrants from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Colombia, and Jamaica. In my day-to-day work, I do political education, leadership development, and campaign development. During intense periods of campaign activity, we organize and attend press conferences, rallies, protests, and lobbying efforts.
